Step 1: Start the computer in Safe mode and check if you get the display. Follow these steps to start the computer to safe mode.
- Press the ‘Windows + R’ key on the keyboard.
- In the ‘Run’ windows type ’MSCONFIG’ and click ‘Ok’.
- Click the ‘Boot’ tab.
- Under ‘Boot Options’, select the ‘Safe Boot’ option.
- Choose the type of safe mode by selecting one of the options below the Safe boot check box: ‘Minimal’.
- Click OK and then restart your PC.
Step 2: If the issue does not occur in safe mode then, start the computer in clean boot and check if the issue persists. Follow these steps to start the computer in clean boot.
- Press the ‘Windows + R’ key on the keyboard.
- In the ‘Run’ windows type ’MSCONFIG’ and click ‘Ok’.
- Click the ‘Boot’ tab and uncheck ‘Safe Boot’ option.
- On the General tab, click to select the option ‘Selective startup’, and then click to clear the option Load startup items check box.
- On the ‘Services tab’, click to select the ‘Hide all Microsoft services’ check box, and then click Disable all.
- Click OK, and then click Restart.
Note: After you have finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to boot to normal startup.
- Press the ‘Windows + R’ key on the keyboard.
- In the ‘Run’ windows type ’MSCONFIG’ and click ‘Ok’.
- On the ‘General’ tab, click the ‘Normal Startup’ option, and then click ‘OK’.
- When you are prompted to restart the computer, click ‘Restart’.
Method 2: If the issue persists then, I would suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the display card drivers in Windows 8 compatibility mode and check if that helps.
Step 1: Follow the steps provided below to uninstall the display drivers.
- Move the mouse to bottom left corner and right-click on the ‘Start icon’.
- Select ‘device manager’.
- Expand ‘Display adapter’ and right-click on ‘display adapter’ and select ‘uninstall’.
Step 2: Follow these steps to install the drivers in compatibility mode and check if that helps.
- Download the display drivers from the manufacturer’s website.
- Right-click on the driver and click on ‘properties’.
- Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select Windows 7 operating system from the drop down.
- Click on ‘Apply’ and click ‘OK’ and run the file to install it.
